Winter 2013 | Bach in Brief

Bach in Brief: Mass in G Minor, BWV 235
Throughout his life as a musician, Johann Sebastian Bach composed cantatas for both secular and sacred use. During the period 1735-1740, Bach adapted some of the most beautiful material from Cantatas 102 and 187 into the short Mass in G minor, BWV 235. We present this work with soloists Laura Williams, mezzo-soprano, Christian Sanders, tenor, and David L’Hommedieu, baritone. Also joining us are the Boulder baroque chamber music group, Ensemble Pearl.

In addition to the Mass in G Minor, we will be performing works by Antonín Dvořák, John Rutter, and Jean Berger, and will be presenting the premiere of Even When God is Silent by Debra Scroggins.
