Listen to the Future

An invitation to embrace new voices in choral, we present four new works on this program, two of which are by high school composers from the Boulder area. As we return to this concert after 18 months of being away from in-person singing, Listen to the Future now carries a new optimistic invitation to experience music and art that are more essential than ever.

Listen to the Future

Six years ago, the Pasadena Master Chorale began a program that mentors and encourages high school-aged students to compose choral music. This year, their program will enter its seventh year, and has inspired Cantabile to do the same. Our first concert of the season will feature world premieres from new high school-aged composers of Boulder. Their voices are those that will frame and develop our future. In preparation for the performance they have been mentored by Kevin Padworski, celebrated Denver composer, Director of Vocal Music at the Colorado Academy, and Artistic Director of The Colorado Chorale. The program will also include music by Padworski and CU composition professor Cecil Effinger, plus other local composers. In addition, Boulder’s choral past will be lifted up as we celebrate the music of those on whom our young composers’ futures rest. Come join us as we listen as we welcome the newest voices of Boulder’s choral community.
