Spring 2000 | The Millenium Benefit

The Creation, Franz Joseph Haydn

Zonta Foothills of Boulder County joined forces with The Cantabile Singers for a concert to benefit two of Zonta’s children’s charities, Blue Sky Bridge and Voices for Children. Held on March 4, 2000, this celebration of the millennium was a project that culminated these two groups’ efforts in raising proceeds of $8800 from ticket sales and corporate sponsorships. On June 1, 2000 Robert Farr, Music Director of The Cantabile Singers, and Bev Sears, President of Zonta Foothills, awarded checks of $4400 each to Meg Collins, Blue Sky Bridge Board Member, and Jim Sides, Voices for Children Board Member to benefit the groups’ activities for the year June 2000-June 2001.

Accompanying the March concert was an exclusive Boulder-area exhibit of “Child Abuse Quilts: Reviewing and Healing the Pain of Child Abuse.” This was a breath-taking exhibit with original creations of artists around the country to focus attention on child abuse and society’s need to assist in the healing process. For many of the 28 quilt makers featured in this exhibit, the process of planning and making their quilt touched deep and painful wounds. For some the process was healing and cathartic. As a group, these quilts will travel the country.

Zonta and The Cantabile Singers are proud to have sponsored this concert and exhibit.
